Intro to the A.R.E. / Structural Systems

Evolving Architect // "Intro to the A.R.E. / Structural Systems"

While there is a lot of study material to cover here, structural systems is one of the most focused Exam Sections to actually study for.

This Exam is all about your understanding of how a building reacts to both general and lateral forces structurally. You need to be aware of the different types of structural systems that you can use on a given project, why you would use them, and what the implications of each has upon the rest of the building.

The Structural Systems Exam in particular has a nasty reputation for being the ‘scary’ exam of the 7. It is important to not get too carried away with the aura and mystery
surrounding the exam itself. Rather, be methodical in your studies, treat this as just another Exam Section to pass, and you should be fine.

P.S. // I hope that this guide was helpful in your studies! This is the first iteration of the A.R.E. Intro Guide Series. Your feedback is critical to the future content of these guides. If you would, please comment below what you think is working, what should be adjusted, and what you'd like to see more of.
